I never thought I would see the creation of a "Vampyres, Witches and Pagans Party", or that the party would be lead by a former pro wrestler. Jonathon "The Impaler" Sharkey, a practitioner of Satanism and self-described "sanguinary vampyre" (but only on his wife of course, he adheres to traditional family values) is running a gubernatorial campaign for the state of Minnesota. Dane Smith delves into what makes "The Impaler" tick.
"Sharkey's religious convictions also might be described as well removed from the middle of the road. Call it compassionate Satanism. "On a whole, those who worship Lucifer are no more evil than those who worship other gods," he says on his website. Although he calls the "Christian God the Father" his "mortal enemy," Sharkey said he has nothing against Jesus Christ or his followers. But he thinks God the Father was a poor parent for allowing his son to be crucified."
I could say something snarky now. But it is just to easy. I'll leave it to you to construct your own comedy from this farce. I will point out that if he wins (for which I'll assume he sold his soul) he would be the first self-described representative of "Witches" and "Pagans" to hold political office (that I know of). Imagine that being in our books of historic "firsts".
